Admit it. You want to know how the date went. Click below to find out.
While ranting about my most recent relationship failure one evening in Bukowski’s among the aforementioned company, Pietre kindly offered up his burgeoning social network, and inquired after my personal preferences. I proceeded to talk about my obsession with Howard Roark (for those who haven’t read Ayn Rand, read it) and so we settled on an individual with reddish hair. As for personality, some might say I’m sarcastic, I value humor and quick wit, and I loathe a lack of self confidence.

Basically, the experience illuminated my own insecurities and my tendency to pass fairly unsubstantiated judgments. Minus the expected awkwardness of sitting down to dinner with any stranger for the first time, the night was rather seamless and pretty enjoyable. It involved Grendel’s Den, a stroll to Union Square, and a live band. All in all, to reiterate, a pleasant evening. It’s a shame that I was biased based on the fact that said individual didn’t have a full time job, and had yet to complete a BA. Additionally, I probably would have hung out a second time, but I couldn’t read the sentiments of my “date” and after an awkward telephone number exchange, I simply thought said individual was “just not that into me”.

So, that was that. Thanks, Pietre and Laura – so, are we up for drinks this weekend, or what?
